I really feel I'm kind of sucky at this whole modeling thing. Let me know what can improve!
It's tough to get his features as angular as it is in the concept art.
Also, the eyes and teeth are just temporary, I'll model better ones!
Also, is it my job to UV map this guy?! I may need some help with that...
I just realized the mouth should probably be higher...
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about modelling either, but I think it looks great. The mouth prolly should be a tad higher. My only critique is to make the hair harder, with sharper angles. It really does look fan-friggin-tastic. Well done :)
ReplyDeleteDang you did that all super fast man. Nice work. I will UV map it in Zbrush or uv layout so it takes less than 15 min. So I wouldn't worry.
ReplyDeleteAlso- I think what might be helpful is putting the model sheet in 3d space and going to the orthographic views and changing it to x-ray- a few parts of the model look like the could be taken into mudbox and with the grab tool pushed around a bit cuz right now it's not matching the concept. But dude for a first day I'm stunned how much you did. Nice work. Edge loops look good from afar. Email Laura and show her both the concept and the model and she can help a ton.
ReplyDeleteHeres a tutorial from the gnomon workshop on how to make the eyes- this is with the lighter in mind so that they can get a nice specular highlight.
