I feel kinda guilty doing this because Aaron didn't ask for a critique...but I did it anyway mostly because I'm stoked for Larry in 3D.
This is the paintover I did. Didn't change much, just pushed and pulled and exaggerated some things a bit more.
Written explanations...
hey! your paint overs actually really help a lot, cause I can't, for some reason, bring the concept image into maya on my computer, so I've just been using it as reference.
ReplyDeleteWhat!!? Why didn't you say so... Here you go...
ReplyDelete2) In the front/side orthographic views:
1) Create a Polygon Plane (not a sphere, not a cube, just a plane) 10x10.
2) Put your camera to the orthographic view facing the plane head on so its flat to the camera.
3) Create UVs based on camera and scale to fit the image plane.
4) Right click and assign a new material to the image plane (lambert or blinn)
5) Assign the concept art .jpg to the material just like you would a texture file.
6) Scale the UVs in Edit UVs>UV Texture Editor so that the image looks right.
yeah Laura told me to do something similar, and I can't get it to work...maybe its because I've never UV mapped or textured anything in my life... well, thats not true, but I'm not very skilled with it.
