Shading

So far everything is going well. I used your feedback to make the shoes a bit less realistic. If it needs to change it won't be a difficult one. I still have a lot of work to do to make sure things are looking right. Theres some stretching happening that I have to fix, and I haven't really touched the jacket and pants yet. Any feedback would be great.

  1. soo cool man! I don't know much about texturing, but here's a few thoughts.
In my opinion, I would add another button below the bottom one, also, I think the buttons should be a more whitish color, or more see through. A brown button on a white shirt seems kind of funny.
I also liked it when the shoes had more of that leathery bumpiness to it.

Also, you should know, I had a dream last night that you had become this fashion designer for Larry and had textured a whole wardrobe of clothes he could wear. it was awesome.

    1. Hahaha, fashion designer for Larry? I laughed pretty hard when I read that.

I'll definitely change the button color, it's funny how that didn't even cross my mind as strange until you said it, then I was like, oh yeah oh many of my white shirts have non white buttons... none.

As far as stylistic vs realistic. I can do either- but not both. I can add more bump to the shoes for sure, but the higher the bump the less cartoony it is.

    2. haha, it was awesome, you took your job as fashion designer very seriously.
I'm not a vis dev guy, so don't regard my opinion as valid critique. Besides, I think it's best judged when we can see the whole thing completed and see how each texture works with and complements the others. I think it'd be easier to see as a whole is what I'm saying.
But, basically, I think it is awesome.

  3. I have a critique now that I've managed to pick my jaw up off the floor. Like I said, the shoes are great...but something about the suit and pants is bother me. I think it's the stitching. It's...to big. It reminds me of one of those super soft hospital blankets they wrap new-born babies in. The color and the reflective sheen are good...but the stitching is kinda bugging me. Thoughts, anyone? Am I lapsing into OCD...again?

    1. Haha yeah I agree about the suit coat patten. I think it should definitely be smaller. I'll keep working on this tomorrow. It's been a busy week ( and I can't stop thinking about how I almost bought tickets to the dark knight rises at the theatre in aurora where all those people died... but they were sold out so i got them at another one not too far away from it) That gives me the chills...

Anyway--- I'll have another update on texturing by Thursday. Clothes will be finished by then and skin will be underway.
